Talking to a brick wall

Ignoring people. It still considered rude right? I mean I haven’t missed a memo or anything? I mean I missed one that told me that jeans with holes in are actually worth MORE than jeans that are in a good condition, but I’m fairly sure I would have been told that ignoring people is now considered ok. So presuming it is still considered rude I want to ask, why is it not acceptable to ignore someone in person, but if they email you or text you, then that’s fine? I mean, if someone stood there having a conversation with you and you simply didn’t reply, it would go beyond rude, that’s mean. But if some one ignores a text, that’s ok? I can understand the “I have no credit” and “My phone is broken” but when you know that the phone is fully operational then you begin to wonder if people hate you.

I was under the impression that all this new fangled technology was meant to help communication, bring people closer, and metaphorically shrink the world. All that jazz. Perhaps I was misled. It wouldn’t be the first time. After all, aren’t we meant to be living on the moon now? And where are my anti gravity boots. Pfft.

Sometimes people simply won’t reply to an invite because they are already doing something. i.e if you invite them to the cinema but they are already down the pub they simply won’t reply, as if a lack of reply counts as a reply. Or is it that they don’t think that people are emotionally stable enough to handle rejection? Me: “Want to come to the pub tonight?” Them: “Sorry, I already have plans” Me “Oh my god, rejection! Let me go slit my wrists!” Come on, we’re all adults here, do you think I am going to be offended if you’ve already made plans, or even if you simply don’t want to go out? No. But I am offended if you can’t be bothered to take the 30 seconds to reply.

i know the real reason for this rant, as you already stated the anti-gravity boots are not out til christmas, but cross your fingers and santa may just grant your wishes.

It’s true, I have my fingers crossed but Santa has let me down repeatedly in the past.

I think the only time that no reply is a good answer is to the text “Hey are you at work” No answer meaning duh I’m at work or I would answer. But other then that at least say something. Also on that note if you don’t answer cause your at work why the hell do people keep texting you if your there. I can just see it “excuse me boss I need to tell my friend I’m at work” that would go over sooo well.
