Single Serving Lives
Seriously, modern living in the Western World has gotten to pretty stupid levels. The sheer stupidity of it being cheap enough to buy a new set of cutlery and throw it away after you’ve used it once scares me. We truly are living in the disposable age. Everything seems to come in single serving packets. Meals for one, with their single serving cutlery and condiments. Disposable cameras. Drinks cans, coffee cups and plastic bags. Nothing gets reused these days. Not even recycled to make new stuff either. It’s just dumped in the bin and buried or burnt. All the while there are people dying from not having the bare necessities, children having to go without food or water. So next time you get your single serving coffee with the single serving sugar and single serving milk just think for a second how lucky you are.

Your ’single serving’ rant reminds me of Fight Club.

Every time I drink out of a styrofoam cup, I think about how it’s going to be around longer than I am, and that it’ll never ever decompose. It’s intense man. So I always draw all over it, figuring that in 1000 years people will look back on it and wonder, “Is this art? What did humans do for fun in the 2000’s? I guess we’ll never know”
Well they would never know if we didn’t keep records on everything nowadays.
But if we do end up killing each other off, and only a few survive, they’ll breed babies who know nothing about it! And then they will wonder that!
Dear god, I need to get back to my homework…

I’m amazed by the fact that our tap water is clean and filtrated. Safe to drink, right from the tap. And we use it to wash dishes, fill our swimming pools, take a shower, put it in our fish tanks, water your plants, and countless other things.
Yet, there are people in third world countries who are dying of dehydration right now.

I always for some strange reason end up eating Styrofoam cups… :O

Well, at least SOMETHING’s getting some use out of that styrofoam…

Styrofoam should be illegal. Seriously. Nobody recycles it (obviously), so it just ends up in either a landfill or a lake. I mean, come on… there are other, more environmentally-friendly ways to keep your coffee warm… :\

To quote Sam Kinisson, “The trouble with the worlds poor is that they live in a desert. We have deserts in the US, we just don’t live in them. We should stop sending food and water and send them U-hauls, so they can move out of there!”
Seriously, can we stop feeling guilty about the wealth we have created for ourselves because others have not?

For starters, that’s pretty selfish Dman. For seconds, deserts are good. :P I hate cold and wet, and I live on an island whose southern end is probably the closest bit of land to Antarctica.
I want to go live in a desert.
