Online Dating

I dunno, I just find it weird. I don’t begrudge others doing it obviously, but just as I really don’t like the idea of going on a blind date, I don’t like the idea of going on a date with someone I’ve never met before. I put the two in the same box. Which is bizarre, because I love the internet, and if I was to leave big decisions in my life up to anyone, it quite possibly could be the internet. What do you guys think? About the online dating bit, not my somewhat excessive dependency on the internet.

  1. Don’t sweat it. What with vid chats and sending each other pics. It’ll only be a matter of time before we can eliminate the whole “going out” portion of dating. And then we will devolve into a species that bares all through Instant Messages and meets at the local hobby shop with their “loved one” for lewd promiscuous sex so that we can later retreat into the dark comforting domiciles we call our homes. We’ll be able to order just about everything we need from the intertubes and the outside world will become a thing of the past. Because of course it will be demolished so we can make way for more internets. And the upgrading factor will lurk in and we will become a world that leaves the house only to pick up the parcels we order and the aforementioned promiscuous sex. We’re already at the point where we can order computers, ON a computer essentially FROM another computer. The future is nigh my friend, throw away all your instruments of the past and embrace the … I’d say debauchery. But its really just kind of sad.

  2. I know what you mean, and totally agree with the guy above. We all seriously depend on the Net for a huge amount of things, surely it cant be too long before you can order an ice cold beer, to be delivered to your door along with your pizza or chinese.

People always think up new things to be able to do, or ‘order’ on the interweb using computers etc. Even mobile phones, cars, games consoles etc have the internet. So theoritically, you can order a pizza using your iPhone (or some othe web phone) to be delivered 5 mins after you get in from work.

The internet makes going out a thing of the past. You can order a HD TV, surround sound, pizza, chinese and rent dvds all from sitting at a screen. Your own home cinema, without having to leave home.

  4. Hey, first off great comic, great british humour in it’s purest form. I’m considering starting a webcomics group and I’ve already got a couple of ‘yeses’ and was wondering if you’d be in on it? It would be a sort of europe group, english, french, finnish, swedish, the whole shabang. Think about it.

  5. I still love your humor, but the new art is turning me off to the comic. Somehow it seems to be making it less funny. :(

  6. @Bryan - you have graduated the Apathetic College with honours! No go grumble about those blasted young kids on your lawn and the price of butter!

@Nathaniel - Erm, I’m not sure about joining a multiple language group, since I only speak English! I’ll give it some further thought though, let me know if you have a link I can check out.

@Holle - well, I’m glad you are still finding it funny but am sad to hear you don’t like the art! It is still a work in progress- is there anything in particular you don’t like?

I am guilty of a long distance relationship with someone I’ve never met. And please don’t ask why, it just is. No I did not intentionally go looking for online dates, and no I have never in my life visited a dating site, just btw. It also happens, however, that any decent males I know in my own country are either twice my age or would never think about me that way for even a second.
