10.04.2008 - Digg
Sometimes I wish life was more like dig. You know, some conversations you just don’t want to have, just like there are some articles on dig you don’t want to read. You’ve either heard it all before, they’re trying to be funny/ clever/ original and failing, or they’re full of crap. I should be able to vote on which conversations I want to take part in. It worked for the interwebs…
So here we are, almost 6am, and, shocked though we both maybe, there is a comic. Yes, since it’s 6 am, so technically it’s late, but come on, give me a break! I’ve had to boot up an old machine with corrupted hard drives, draw the comic, go through numerous crashes and blue screens, redraw parts of the comic several times due to the aforementioned crashes. And that was the last resort; first I tried using GIMP (eurgh) and inscape (yuck). Then my internet tripped out so I figured I’d risk it and boot up crapbot that I used to call my computer. Basically, what I’m trying to say is, comic. Enjoy.

So you don’t like GIMP. I’m shocked, nay amazed by this sudden and unexpected turn of events. Was it the fantastic user interface or the fact that it takes an hour to draw one small simple picture that annoyed you?
If life was more like digg, you could see a lot of conversations where thousands of people just turned up and started sniping away at the initiators just as it got interesting. Every conversation of interest would eventually be overrun by teenagers with too much free time and turned into a carbon copy of the previous 12 months of conversation and the fact that some weeks ago the gatecrashers had visited a conversation on beekeeping would suddenly make them a qualified apiarist.

i didn’t get today’s one at first, then it hit me like a…like a…whatever. But it’s good! Another example of Internet functionality which should somehow be made available in the real world…

hah, that’s quite good,
I started using “Harvested” instead of “burned” to confuse the ‘hip’ crowd
That’s always fun ^-^
@Rich - Just because you in particular don’t understand it, doesn’t make it a bad comic..
Just pretend you understand it, nod, smile and walk away :D

I hate when I’m not in on the joke :(
It sounds to me like he’s trying to bury the conversation or something, but that’s all I can figure out.
If there was some magical nice way to stop conversations I’d love to hear it though. I’m sort or mean, and I just say I don’t care or something along those lines.
Luckily because I’m eccentric I get away with it :P

Is the font style permanent, or just a temporary thing because of the recent technical troubles?

I think he has exams at the moment, and also pc broken doesn’t help either. Hope you’re back soon mike.

No! He can’t disappear! I can live with one week updates- maybe even 1 and 1/2 week updates, but no complete disappearances!
Then again, he is in university and right now I’m doing exams. So I bet he has a bunch too. Exams suck.
Mike, don’t leave us! I love this comic too much!

merserve - digg is a new site where users can vote on stories they like, and bury stories they don’t. Also, TA DA! I’m back.
Andrew hit the nail on the head with the broken PC, but it seems to be fixed now, so, check out the new comic =)
