Did I order fries
Monday - November 19th, 2007
I really hate it when the guys in fast food places ask me if I “want fries with that?” No I don’t. If I did I would have ordered them. And no, don’t want to go large for an extra 50p. And no, I don’t want anything other than what I ordered; otherwise, I would have ordered it! The real reason I hate them asking is because I usually cave and say yes. I’m very susceptible to suggestion. No seriously, it’s scary. All those special offers on in supermarkets, they’re aimed at people like me. I’ll come out of the shop with tins and tins of dog food. I don’t even own a dog… “But they’re on special offer!” I’m not normally allowed to go shopping when the sales are on…

I really hate that too, cuz I’m a cheap bastard. Only the burger please, no, nothing else.

Sometimes I’m a bit low on cash and shouldn’t really buy the chips, but once I’m offered them I’ll always say yes. It’s very annoying, but once I’ve got them I do tend to enjoy. Maybe even more so due to the fact that I shouldn’t really be eating them… Ohhhh forbidden fries…

I think I enjoy junk food because it’s bad and you shouldn’t eat it. I don’t have a sense of smell, so it’s not like I can taste much (aside from really strong stuff or the stuff that goes along with your tastebuds). Chocolate does nothing for me really, but I eat it because it’s fun to be bad.

Now see, what pisses me off a bit more is that most food service places require the employees to give the offer. If they don’t offer, they get in trouble with managers. If they do offer, they piss off people like you. They can’t win!

For me, “Would you like fries with that?” doesn’t apply. I’m gluten intolerant, so when I go to McDonald’s all I can eat are salads, sundaes and fries.
Usually, if all I have is spare change, I just get the fries. Therefore, a more applicable question would be “Would you like a burger with that?” ;)
