Deck the Halls with shut the hell up

I went shopping today, big mistake I know. The crowds were intense, but understandable. I mean, it’s only 2 weeks till Christmas. Come on! 2 weeks is plenty of time! Why start cramming into shops and making my shopping trip hell? I only wanted a few bits and pieces. But the worst thing was that not only was I crammed in amongst hundreds of other absent minded shoppers (many so absent minded they forgot to wash) but I had to shop listening to that god awful music, for which I can’t find negative words strong enough to describe my feelings. They’re the same cheerful tunes over and over and over and all I know is that this time of year I want to get in and out of stores in an even faster than usual, and that I’d turn homicidal if I had to work in a shop and listen to that eight hours a day.

Ok, so another Friday, another missing update. But the good news is hopefully it’ll be the last for a while. My deadline for all the coursework I’ve been doing is this Friday so hopefully it means that I’ll have time to put a comic up. In between catching up on sleep and knocking back a few in the pub. Hmm, either way I’ll be almost passed out. Maybe I shouldn’t be making promises about Friday’s update…

Thanks to everyone who has been voting on Buzcomics, we’ve moved up almost a hundred places in the last week, but haven’t quite reached the top 100 yet, so please keep on voting! Next week I’ll also try to put up a few special strips or something to say thanks to those who vote. Oh, and woooo, almost 50 people have added the Apathetic Rant Facebook application! Thanks guys!

Oh I hate christmas shopping…the best way i found to combat the music problem is with more music. Just turn the volume up on ur mp3 player and only take the headphones out when u need to speak to someone.
This also helps me to ignore the random people in the street trying to teach me about jesus and god around this time. Yes when I turn my music up it does mean that i don’t care.
I’m with you Mike, christmas shopping sucks.

Aw, you guys have no adventurous spirit!
I work in a store that plays Christmas music constantly. I love it. Well, except for that damn Mariah Carey Chrismas song. All I want is for christmas is for her to shut up! Bah!
The only bad thing is putting out Christmas stock. For some reason, decorations are not allowed to not be full of sparkles. I’ll open a box and get doused in them!

I sympathise completely. I cannot imagine why any store could think that the same six or seven crappy and ancient Christmas songs that you’ve heard in every store you’ve been in for the last two months are going to do anything but make people contemplate buying a handgun. But then I have a special relationship with music so perhaps I’m biased. See my latest strip for more info.

Christmas Carols are obviously the devils tool.
I went out to a fairly nice chinese restaurant the other night, guess what they were playing over and over? Damned carols.

You guys are right. I love carols as much as the next guy but mix it up. Play some Mannheim Steamroller, some Trans Siberian Orchestra, mix it up people. They have literally thousands of renditions of hundreds of different songs out there. Heck I love classical Christmas overtures and things from people like Bach and Mozart. Those are all so dark. Try it you might like it.

I don’t mind carols… but then i don’t have to listen to them for hours on end. ;) I might in those circumstances.
