Charity schmarity
Well, hello there. It seems like so long since I updated the site, and yet it has only been 5 days. Yes this means that I have missed one update; Fridays. But there have been some server issues that have prevented me from accessing the site. Some of you may have noticed the site was down for a few days in the week. It’s strange because it seems to be a regional problem; here in the UK I was unable to access the site, but some of my friends in America were still able to see it. So, if you able to access the site and wondered where the updates where or if you couldn’t get onto the site then my apologies go out to you, but rest assured, the normal viewing schedule will continue as normal (fingers crossed!) Keep your eyes peeled for a few updates to the site in the coming days to make up for the downtime.
Anyway, today’s rant, charity. Heh, now that sounds controversial, but my beef isn’t with charity in itself, it is with people taking advantage of the kindness of others. Take for example those people that sell the Remembrance Poppies (I think it’s a UK only thing) or the AIDs / Breast Cancer ribbons etc. Basically the deal is that you donate a little something to charity in return for a token item. Normally there is no set price and it is left up to the person to decide how much to give. But when I see people giving 10p, or sometimes even 5p it really makes me a bit peeved. Seriously, how tight can you get that you give someone 5p for a ribbon? I’m sure people will say that every little counts, but something as little as 5p probably wouldn’t cover the costs of the ribbon. But that is beside the point. It is totally disrespectful to give such a low amount.

Oh my gosh! I agree wholeheartedly!
@ my high school we support a diff/ charity each week & it seems we only really have two kinds of people: people who donate each week, and people that make excuses for never donating… it irritates me that people are so stupid and selfish…
And no, the poppies aren`t just a UK thing… Those in Canada use `em too. They`re sold on remembrance day but most people (ie my dad) keep tem on their coats, in their cars etc till they loose `em
Sorry for my rambling, but I`m dead tired and a bit frustrated.
Well that`s it for me:

Hey there ApatheticRambler =P It’s good to know that rememberance day is, well, remembered outside of the UK, but depressing to hear that so too is the selfishness of some people. I tried coming up with a notion of enforced charity the other day whilst sleep deprived, I was quite happy with it until I realised it wasn’t really charity if I raise money at gun point.

I think poppies and remembrance day may be a strictly commonwealth thing. I hate it when it’s on a school day, I nearly always forget. Which is fairly ironic.
